About Me
Hello. I'm Rick Lecoat.
I’m a graphic designer and web designer. Pixels and print.
My career (full CV here) has included book design, record sleeve design (including a few pretty big names), photo retouching and composition, and designing and building web sites ranging in size from tiny brochure sites to large complex structures. Recently, I was even the designer for an independent, grass roots political campaign.
I ran my own graphic and web design business, Shark Attack, for almost 17 years before becoming the design lead of a highly-regarded University communications team. Subsequently, I established and ran the in-house design studio for a group of 20 independent schools and colleges.
I’m the guy who prefers to anticipate and preempt problems rather than firefighting them later. I’m also a big fan of visual consistency and meticulous attention to detail. “Measure twice, cut once”, as somebody once said.
My clients appreciate these traits. Clients who include London’s Metropolitan Police Service, the BBC, Universal Music, The Readers Digest Inc, and rock music legend Bryan Adams.
Long story short, I’ve been doing what I do for over 30 years now, meaning that the stride of my career is broad enough to allow me to have one foot in the old(er) world of inks, substrates and printing presses, whilst the other is firmly planted in the digital world of HTML, CSS, UX design and ExpressionEngine.
Thirty years of experience across a wide sweep of industry sectors equates to versatility, a versatility that I believe makes me suitable to a very wide range of projects.
That said, if I think that I'm actually perhaps not the best person for your project? Well, then I won’t string you along; I'll just tell you. And naturally, if possible, I’ll also try and recommend somebody who I think better suits your needs. My clients like that, too. It's one of the reasons they trust me.
So that’s me. If you'd like to talk, feel free to email me (link at the bottom of the navigation menu).
